Sculptures for Ants,

Installation and workshop, commissioned by music festival Into The Great Wide Open, 2019, made in collaboration with Jan-Pieter Karper

Jan-Pieter Karper and myself were asked by Zone2Source and music festival Into The Great Wide Open to create a work with the theme ‘interspecies communication’. The festival took place in a natural reserve on one of the Dutch islands. Thinking about how the lives of the animals living there must be influenced by this yearly event, we decided to organize something for the local ant population. We made a number of small sculptures for the ants, created a video and organized children’s workshops on sculpting for an audience of ants.
